Our community, our people

Our community, our people

At Trineo, we value People over Profit. We are lucky enough to have a dedicated “people experience” team in each region that we operate focussed on nurturing our culture, ensuring we have the tools we need to succeed and grow and making sure we’re having plenty of fun along the way.

But People over Profit extends to our community as well - and “tis the season” for giving back and recognizing all the things for which we are grateful. At Trineo, we call these Seva days; seva being the formal Sanskrit word for selfless service.

So, as we bring the decade to a close, we’ve taken some time together across the globe to be grateful for each other and do a little more in the spirit of “selfless service” for the greater good.

Boulder: Computer Science Education Week at the Boulder Public Library

Our Boulder team spent the morning building, talking and teaching all things robotics. Computer Science Education Week (CSED) is an annual event at the Boulder Public Library. Hundreds of kids of, all ages participate in different learning workshops and events throughout the week. Our team participated in the closing day, helping kids build robots, teaching them about coding and helping facilitate other activities at the event. Fun, rewarding and educational for all of us!

Sydney, Australia: Cooking a holiday meal with Oz Harvest

Our Sydney team spent the day getting an education on how to utilize every scrap of whole foods - minimizing food waste and learning a trick or two along the way (including how to properly hold a knife!).

We cooked up a feast that would go on to feed several hundred people in our community at the Oz Harvest annual Christmas dinner. We were honored to help spread some joy and a good meal for those who don’t have the means to have a special celebration this year.

Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand: Charity Packages

Pre Christmas we selected a number of local and national charities that were meaningful to our teams and collected a list of high-demand items that help the charities provide the best support to those in need. Each small group of ‘elves’ was tasked with ordering items, packaging them with Christmas cheer, and talking a little about their specific charity. We even had a prize for the best packaging, won by the “Little Sprouts” - their international theme clinched it!

This year’s charities: Auckland City Mission, Christchurch City Mission, Little Sprouts, Foster Hope, SPCA and Ronald McDonald House.

“Tis the season...every season!

As our journey continues, we’re working on some really cool initiatives that support our people and our communities and move us forward as we keep striving towards even more sustainable business practices. Watch this space for more to come in the new decade!

Wishing a happy and healthy new decade and 2020 to all.
